1. Use Data to Back Up Your Negotiation

Product managers  heavily rely on data to back up their daily work. So it makes sense as an aspiring data product manager to back up your salary negotiations with strong data resources — some of these like Glassdoor and Talent.com have been mentioned above in this article.

Account for factors affecting salary — experience level, location, company size, funding level etc. — and negotiate your salary based on these details. For example, if you are a product manager with X years of experience living in city Y,  you can  expect to make the market rate at a minimum.

2. Revisit Your Past Experience, Certifications and Projects

While it’s highly likely that you already discussed your experience during the interview process, salary negotiations are a great place to bring it  up again.
