Earlier this year, the Udacity team  announced that we partnered  with Nutanix — the leading provider of Hyper converged infrastructure (HCI) software —  to create the Hybrid Cloud Engineer Nanodegree Program. As part of the initiative, we announced 500 scholarships to the newly built Hybrid Cloud Engineer Nanodegree program. Today, we’re excited to inform you that this Nanodegree program is now ready for the scholarship winners and also open for enrollment.

Speaking about the partnership Inder Sidhu, Executive Vice President of Global Customer Success at Nutanix, said, “At Nutanix we strive to provide ongoing educational opportunities for our customers and prospects so they are constantly learning. Our partnership with Udacity has received incredibly positive feedback from students. We now enter the next phase of our partnership by awarding 500 free scholarships to the full Hybrid Cloud Engineer Nanodegree program.”

What Students will Learn With the Hybrid Cloud Engineer Nanodegree Program

The Hybrid Cloud Engineer Nanodegree Program, the newest addition to our School of Cloud Programs, will help position you at the forefront of cloud technology. The program is ideal for someone looking to hone their skills in modern cloud infrastructure and the design of hybrid application deployment.

The Nanodegree program will provide a broad introduction to cloud infrastructure and teach you how to design a hybrid cloud solution, create functioning web applications using CALM, and deploy hybrid cloud applications.

The Nanodegree program focuses on the following subject areas:

Modern Private Cloud Infrastructure

Learn to configure and manage a hyperconverged infrastructure cluster, providing a scalable, distributed storage, network, and compute fabric for virtual machines and advanced services.

Hybrid Cloud Application Design

Learn about the evolution of hybrid-cloud workload management and design for multiple infrastructures.

Automating Private Cloud

Create a scalable web application and life-cycle operational model with governance to enable on-demand, self-service workloads on-prem with fiscal oversight and quotas.

Designing Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure

Learn public cloud concepts, manage hybrid workloads, and drive to global load balancing of workloads.

Get Skilled for Hybrid Cloud Jobs Through Real-World Projects

The program is ideal if you’re looking to enhance or develop your skill-set as a cloud technology or data-center professional. The program takes you on an in-depth journey into the design, deployment, and management of applications on the Hybrid Cloud.

You also get access to some real-world projects to master the concepts you need to transform how your IT teams manage applications and support the business.

PROJECT 1: Private Cloud Two-web Application

In this project, you’ll use Nutanix’s integrated lab environment to design a hybrid cloud solution for your company’s key revenue generator, an e-commerce web application. Your solution will require you to deploy and protect a web application on the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) across a web server VM, application VM and database server VM on the private cloud.

PROJECT 2: Private Cloud SaaS: Three-tier Web Application

The Vice President of Software Engineering at your company has asked you to design a blueprint for deploying a three-tier web application with a load balancer, web server and database VM hosted on the private cloud. You will need to test that the deployment works properly and that each VM is configured with the proper resources and tasks. Your developers will need a deployment scenario, the ability to scale in and scale out the web tier, and to backup the database at any time.

PROJECT 3: Hybrid Cloud SaaS: Three-tier Web Application

Building off your work in the previous projects, you’ll now extend the model of your e-commerce company’s basic web application to a hybrid cloud deployment in order to maximize high availability and scalable performance. In addition, you’ll be tasked with creating small and medium deployment scenarios.

The program offers skills and knowledge in domains like Hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI), Hybrid Cloud, Public Cloud, Private Cloud, HCI Clusters, Workload Management, and On premise solutions and Off premise solutions.

This program prepares you for success in a variety of different roles, including:

  • Hybrid Cloud Engineer
  • Cloud Systems Engineer
  • Cloud Architect
  • Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
  • Solutions Engineer
  • Systems Integration Engineer
  • Cloud DevOps Engineer
  • Software Engineer
  • Cloud Services Software Engineer

On completion of the program, you’ll get an industry recognized certificate in hybrid cloud infrastructure to add your resume.
