Bertelsmann is funding 15,000 scholarships in Data, AI, and Cloud-Computing in partnership with Udacity, and we are proud to announce that applications are now open. As we shared earlier this year, this new scholarship program–part of a three-year commitment by Bertelsmann to fund 50,000 scholarships–is an expansion of our partnership and of our joint efforts to increase learning opportunities in emerging technologies to students across the globe.

The world is becoming increasingly digital, and as a result, every job in every industry is becoming a technology job. And while the industry demand for technical skills and proficiency is high, the supply is low. It is our shared goal with Bertelsmann to bridge this gap to empower people with the necessary digital skills of the future that will allow them to successfully advance in their careers and shape the future, which is why we are excited to move forward with about this next phase of the process.

We invite any learner, whether beginners with basic computer skills or an experienced programmer, to apply for a scholarship to one of three subject areas:

  • Cloud Engineering: Learn cloud computing fundamentals and the basics of the command line interface of a Linux server. Get hands-on experience deploying infrastructure using code, and an introduction to version control with Git & GitHub. Explore tools and services offered by Amazon Web Services through interactive hands-on exercises.
  • Data Science: Get introduced to descriptive statistics and learn the basics of SQL, programming with Python, and data wrangling.
  • Artificial Intelligence: Learn the basics of deep learning, learn about the different types of neural networks, such as convolutional neural networks and recurrent neural networks, and build your own deep neural networks using PyTorch, an open-source machine learning library for Python.

All three scholarship tracks are aimed at transforming the students in the field of Cloud, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence and make them future-ready.

The initial phase of the Bertelsmann Technology Scholarship Program is structured in two phases. First, 15,000 scholarship recipients will participate in Challenge Courses focused on either Data, AI, or Cloud that will run from November to March 2020. The top 1,600 performers from the initial phase will then receive full Nanodegree scholarships beginning in March 2020.

You can learn more about the Bertelsmann Technology scholarship program here. You must be 18 years or older to apply, and applications will close on November 6, 2019. We look forward to reviewing your scholarship application, and welcoming you in the Udacity classroom soon! Good luck!
