Today, we are excited to announce a new scholarship program with Bertelsmann. Over the next three years, Bertelsmann and Udacity will provide up to 50,000 scholarships in the areas of Cloud Engineering, Data Science and Artificial intelligence. This effort is an expansion of Udacity and Bertelmann’s partnership, as well as, their joint efforts to provide enhanced learning opportunities in emerging technologies.
The program is structured in two phases: In the first phase, 15,000 applicants, per subject area, will be selected to participate in a 3-month Scholarship Challenge phase. In the second phase, the top 5,000 performing Challenge phase students in each subject area will be awarded a full scholarship for a Udacity Nanodegree program.
The scholarship program builds on the success of earlier initiatives: In recent years, Bertelsmann has funded several thousand scholarships as part of a collaboration with Google, a program that the EU Commission recognized with its “EU Digital Skills Award”!
The Bertelsmann-Udacity partnership is a natural one. Bertelsmann seeks great talent entering the global workforce, and is committed to promoting digital literacy in Cloud Engineering, Data Science and Artificial intelligence. As a global, lifelong learning platform, Udacity is committed to ensuring that every single Nanodegree program graduate learns skills that are critical for success in today’s digital economy.
As Bertelsmann Chairman and CEO Thomas Rabe said, “The world of work is becoming increasingly digital, with digital skills becoming more and more important in every industry. There is already a shortage of skilled workers in the digital domain, and it will only increase in the next few years. At the same time, digitalization is leading to certain work activities being replaced by tech solutions in the future. Bertelsmann’s media, services, and educational offerings make us a leader in many areas of the digital world; we deal intensively with the opportunities opened up by new technologies. Accordingly, we see it as our responsibility to empower as many people as possible to be successful in the digital world and to support policymakers in this. This is why we are launching, together with Udacity, a global training initiative in the fields of Cloud Engineering, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence.”
This newly announced scholarship program is aimed equally at people with or without programming or IT experience. The program focuses on three subject areas:
- Cloud Engineering: Learn skills such as developing and deploying full stack applications in cloud environments, and developing and deploying distributed applications in the cloud using microservices, while monitoring and debugging those applications.
- Data Science: Learn to uncover insights, process large amounts of data, create data-driven applications, and communicate critical findings using Python and SQL.
- Artificial Intelligence: Learn the skills including building deep learning models like convolutional and recurrent networks, creating generative adversarial networks, and deploying deep learning models to production.
Online applications for the scholarships are now open. Challenge Course scholarships start November 20, 2019. Apply now for one of the Challenge Course scholarships.
