For the third year in a row, Udacity landed on Newsweek’s list of America’s Top Online Learning Schools. The 2025 list which ran Nov. 6th, rated Udacity a perfect 5 of 5 stars. Udacity is in good company. Another 5-star recipient was Khan Academy. A notable geographic trend is that around 10 percent of the ‘winners’ are based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Udacity features bootcamp level quality courses at a fraction of the cost, industry experts committed to learner’s skill development, self-paced programs for busy schedules, and real-life projects that prepare students for what’s next.
How did Newsweek determine the ratings? Statista surveyed more than 10,000 people in the U.S. between June 3, 2024, and August 7, 2024. Respondents indicated which institutions they used to attend an online course.
Then, respondents rated the institutions regarding several criteria including how satisfied they were with the organization and to what extent they would recommend it to others. User reviews and other institutional indicators were transformed into score values and aggregated towards a final score. To achieve an award, businesses needed an above-average total score value.
Here’s helpful information about the growing popularity of online learning from the Newsweek story: “Online learning continues to expand in the United States as colleges and other education providers seek to attract students who live outside the immediate area and working adults drawn to the flexibility of online classes. Studies suggest online learning has yet to reach its peak and is expected to grow in coming years.” Read more about Udacity’s recognition and perfect score here.
