Udacity has partnered with stc Academy, to offer 150 free Women in STEM scholarships to earn a Business Analytics Nanodegree certification. Their cohort launch kicked off June 1, 2022!
This stc program is another strategic product by the academy in partnership with Udacity. It is designed based on stc’s strategic learning requirements, to further equip you with the basic, yet essential knowledge and skills to make more data driven decisions. The program is considered a great first step on the path to preparing women for exciting career opportunities in STEM.
About WiSTEM
According to Pew Research, women earn over 50% of STEM college degrees but they still remain underrepresented in the science, technology, engineering, and math workforce.
In the Fall of 2021, Udacity hosted the STEM Forward with Women virtual conference to bring awareness to this issue. Topics discussed include:
- Diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace
- Challenges faced by Women in Tech and STEM-related careers
- Tactics organizations can adopt to empower women to outpace corporate bias and microaggressions
Research in the US states that only 25% of computing jobs are held by women, and in the UK, just 17% of the tech jobs are held by women. This is not just a societal concern but a workforce challenge.
Udacity’s Pledge to WiSTEM
All challenges are also opportunities, thus creating the STEM Forward with Women Scholarship program. We have committed $10M in scholarships over the next 5 years.
We are committed to closing the divide between men and women in STEM fields. That starts with ensuring a robust pipeline of trained, talented women.
Hiring “women in tech” should be a top priority for organizations, especially given the critical shortage of skilled technology professionals faced by many enterprises.
- For every organization that commits to purchase a minimum of 25 scholarships for women, Udacity will match that number of scholarships to support women in STEM roles.
- Our 1:1 matching program will focus on technology areas like data science, AI, machine learning, programming, autonomous systems, and cybersecurity.
