Black scholarships can change the face of tech.

Only 9% of the tech workforce is Black. Yet some of the most innovative technologies have been created by Black individuals. Things like phone GPS, home security systems, and more wouldn’t be here without Black tech professionals. It’s time to shake up the tech industry. And that starts with diversity.

OneTen, the Blacks In Technology Foundation, and Udacity are partnering to award more minority scholarships in 2023. The goal? Provide Black learners who don’t have 4-year degrees with family-sustaining and generational wealth-building opportunities.

Learners interested in one of the following topics are encouraged to apply:

Why become a business analyst?

Business analysts work to improve business processes and practices across an organization. There are always ways to optimize, so you’re regularly challenged with new initiatives. No two days are the same as a business analyst—keeping you on your toes. And as the world shifts to digital-first, the amount of data that organizations generate continues to increase, so analysts are always in high demand.

The Business Analytics Nanodegree program trains learners to: analyze data and build models with Excel, query databases using SQL, and create informative data visualizations with Tableau. This is an introductory program and has no prerequisites. In order to succeed, we do recommend having experience using a computer and being able to download and install applications.

Why become a digital marketer?

Digital marketing is a subset of marketing where businesses promote their products and services through digital platforms like social media, emails, blogs, and more. These individuals build a digital presence by creating campaigns to target a specific audience. Digital marketers wear many hats, meaning you don’t have to be restricted to a specific area. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to grow in specializations you choose.

The Digital Marketer Nanodegree program focuses on concepts including value propositions, marketing objectives, KPIs, targeted personas, customer journeys, marketing channels, content strategy, and more. No experience is required for this program.

Why become a front end developer?

A front-end developer is responsible for the client side of web applications. They work closely with web designers and back end developers to build a functional and cohesive user interface and user experience. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a wide-range of projects for small businesses and large corporations alike. There is endless demand for these skills.

The Front End Web Developer Nanodegree program equips learners with the skills to construct responsive websites using CSS, Flexbox, and CSS Grid. Plus, it focuses on developing interactive websites and UI applications using JavaScript and HTML, and connecting a web application to backend server data using JavaScript. We recommend that you are already comfortable using basic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (or another object-oriented programming language) before enrollment.

Let’s disrupt the status quo, together.

All three programs include guidance from experts and curriculum developers through monthly Ask Me Anything sessions (AMAs). Participants can access 1:1 mentoring from these advisors to stay unblocked on their learning journeys.

Ready to get started? Apply for the OneTen/BIT Scholarship today for the opportunity to enroll in one of the three tracks.
