Robotics Software Engineer

Discovering Autonomous Systems

This Nanodegree provides an overview of embedded systems. You will cover key components like microcontrollers and microprocessors. You'll explore resources, peripheral devices, and the nuances of analog and digital signals before taking an in-depth look at digital signal processing. Here, you'll delve into clocking, logic circuits, gate combinations, and multiplexers, enabling you to construct advanced logical circuits based on truth tables. Lastly, you will learn how to use breadboards for testing and prototyping and understand the intricacies of synchronous and asynchronous processing in embedded systems. Topics explore a wide set of areas of 5G wireless systems so that students can design applications using 5G equipment & services. First topics are principles of mobile systems, 5G systems (core/radios), application types in 5G, and related wireline / wireless methods. In depth study of 5G explores the major flows in the Core & Radio Access, the behavior of the radio’s physical layer and how applications are supported, features of 5G systems (Voice, SMS, Location, Network Slicing, Analytics), and 5G standards. 5G services and equipment covers elements to build solutions using 5G. 5G Advanced changes by 2025 are reviewed to consider new features in designs. Connectivity aspects of 5G teaches security, energy impact, use of Non-Terrestrial Networks. Finally the evolution to 6G is reviewed.

Discovering World Models

This Embedded Systems Programming course introduces students to the fundamentals of programming microcontrollers using C/C++. Key topics include Embedded C/C++ basics, bit manipulation for hardware control, and managing interrupts for real-time responsiveness. The course also covers essential code optimization techniques to ensure efficient, reliable software performance on resource-constrained devices. Ideal for those looking to build a strong foundation in embedded systems development.

Embedded Systems Programming with C/C++

This course will provide an overview of embedded systems, including the history of processing components and the differences between microcontrollers and microprocessors. You will also learn about resources and peripheral devices common to embedded systems and analog and digital signals. By the end of this course, you will be able to design a variety of embedded systems and decode a simple message using the UART protocol.

Fundamentals of Embedded Systems

In this program, you will embark on a comprehensive exploration of Embedded Systems Essentials, focusing on Digital Output Devices and Analog Signals, Voltage, ADCs and Signal Processing, as well as Embedded Systems Design and Debugging. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on exercises, you will gain a deep understanding of the fundamental concepts in embedded systems. You will learn how to interface with digital output devices, work with analog signals, and process voltage and data using ADCs.

Connectivity is an essential part of our world. In this course, you will learn the basics of cellular networks, including their main components and overall architecture. You will also learn about the 5G landscape and some of what it takes to implement a wireless solution.

Introduction to Next Gen Connectivity

This program provides a comprehensive education in key areas of embedded technology. The program includes three focused courses covering the fundamentals and advanced control techniques for stepper motors, the integration and use of various sensors including ultrasonic sensors and essential communication protocols, and I2C communication, debugging, and the integration of accelerometer sensors. Through hands-on experience and practical examples, students will gain the skills necessary to design, implement, and troubleshoot complex embedded systems.

Robotics and Embedded Systems

This course will cover processing that is triggered by interrupts, as well as the basics of how to design and debug an embedded system. You will finish with a project to create an embedded voltmeter.

Embedded Systems Design and Debugging

This course covers how to connect and program embedded systems. You will learn how to read and create circuit diagrams, see how breadboards are used to test and prototype embedded systems, and learn the differences between synchronous and asynchronous processing. 

Connecting and Programming Embedded Systems

This course covers how digital signals are processed to create advanced circuits in embedded systems. It includes clocking in digital systems, logic circuits, combined logic gates, and multiplexers. By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create advanced logical circuits that match truth tables using logic gates.

Combination Gates and Multiplexers

In this course, you will engage with Embedded Systems, focusing on controlling servo motors, advanced analog input techniques, and serial terminal processing. You will also explore advanced servo motor control, intricate analog input methods, and efficient serial terminal communication for embedded system applications. 

Enhancing Motor Control Skills

This course covers the essentials of digital output devices. Different types of digital displays are examined before taking a closer look at seven-segment displays. Next up are analog signals, followed by an introduction to Ohm's Law, which will help you understand the relationship between voltage, current, and resistance.

In this course, you will explore Embedded Systems, delving into direct current motors, encoders, reading rotary encoders, and mastering servo motors. You will also gain practical knowledge in controlling motors, understanding encoder feedback, interpreting rotary encoder signals, and effectively utilizing servo motors.
