We are teaming up with the Vodacom Lesotho Foundation to offer 50 Scholarships to Basotho in Lesotho, Southern Africa. Recipients will be able to choose from two Nanodegree programs: Programming for Data Science with Python and Business Analytics. Our mission is to enable an inclusive and sustainable digital society, and we’re committed to closing the technology talent gap through hands-on projects, highly-curated content, and on-demand support.

Scholarship Process

APPLICATION PERIOD
Submit your application between March 9, 2022 through April 25, 2022.

NANODEGREE PROGRAM
Those selected as one of 50 scholarship recipients will begin the Nanodegree program of their choice—either Programming for Data Science with Python or Business Analytics. During your learning journey, you will have the opportunity to participate in networking and mentoring sessions to learn industry best practices and more.

GRADUATION
Students will graduate with a portfolio of real-world projects and receive an official certificate after completing the program.

Programming for Data Science with Python

Prepare for a data science career by learning the fundamental data programming tools: Python, SQL, command line, and Git.

Projects include:
  • Complete an entire data analysis process from start to finish while working in PostgreSQL.
  • Use Python to answer analytical questions about bikeshare trip data collected from three US
  • Use Git and Github to manage versions of a program and collaborate with others on programming projects.

This program will prepare you for a career in data science. Graduate with programming competencies used in many data analysis and data science roles, including Python, SQL, Terminal, and Git.

Business Analytics

Gain foundational skills like collecting and analyzing data, modeling business scenarios, and communicating your findings with SQL, Excel, and Tableau.

Projects include:
  • Explore an interactive data dashboard to uncover insights and write a short report about your findings.
  • Use statistics and spreadsheet programs like Excel to analyze data from over 500 companies on the New York Stock Exchange.
  • Query a digital music store database which holds information regarding the store’s media, employees, and customers.
  • Build interactive dashboards with Tableau and use them to discover and communicate insights from data.

This program is a great introduction to the fundamentals of data and analysis. You will leave with practical skills that you can apply in jobs across any industry. Plus, these competencies are a solid foundation for a career in data analysis and data science.

  • How can I benefit from this program?

    You will work on real-world projects with the most up-to-date content, co-created with top industry experts to build your portfolio. Throughout your journey, you will have access to a supportive online community, where you will get support from mentors and fellow learners, along with building a strong industry network.

  • How many spots will be available?

    There are 50 scholarships available. Winners will be announced by email and will have full access to the Nanodegree program content on May 24, 2022. Recipients must make progress in their course by May 30, 2022, or they will be removed from the program.

  • What does the learner journey look like as part of this program?

    Learners will have access to the course material through their virtual classroom. In order to graduate, they must complete a set of projects within the specified timeframe.

  • What are Connect sessions?

    Connect sessions are mandatory weekly sessions with a Udacity Session Lead to track progress, work through technical blockers, and work on relevant case studies together. These sessions are a great opportunity to network, build connections, and stay on track to graduate on time.

  • What are the eligibility criteria to enroll?

    Applicants must be between 22 and 35 years of age and be located in Lesotho.

  • Are there any fees for enrollment?

    No, this is a free scholarship opportunity.

  • Are there any prerequisites for enrollment?

    There are no prerequisites for the program. However, applicants must have access to a computer with internet connection.

  • Is this program online, in-person, or combination of both?

    The program takes place 100% online. You can work from wherever you want to, as long as you have a working internet connection.

  • How many hours a week should I expect to spend on my coursework, in order to finish on time?

    Between instructional content, quizzes, projects, and other course-related activity, we estimate that investing 10-15 hours/week of self-study (including attending weekly 1.5-2 hour virtual connect sessions) will enable Nanodegree program learners to proceed through the curriculum at a successful pace.
