The Amazon Web Services Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Scholarship program aims to help students who are underrepresented and underserved in tech learn foundational machine learning concepts as they prepare for a career in one of today’s hottest and fastest-growing fields.
FREE Generative AI Course
Get free access to the new "Introducing Generative AI with AWS" course. This one-month long course offers an in-depth exploration of generative artificial intelligence (AI), emphasizing its foundational concepts and real-world applications. You'll gain an understanding of machine learning’s foundational concepts, generative AI, like Large Language Models (LLMs) and transformer-based architectures, and the ability to connect technical knowledge to responsible and inclusive AI applications within society.
Eligibility: Learners who complete the the Scholarship prerequisites and complete a Udacity application gain free access to the course.
Machine learning is poised to transform virtually every industry; however, there are currently not enough trained ML developers to meet this demand—and far fewer from backgrounds underrepresented in tech.
The World Economic Forum estimates that technological advances and automation will create 97 million new technology jobs by 2025, including in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
While job opportunities in technology are growing, women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities, and people of color are far underrepresented in science and technology careers. For example, female workers make up only an estimated 26% of workers in data and AI roles according to The Future of Gender Parity report by the World Economic Forum.
Step 1
Enroll in AWS DeepRacer Student
Opt into the AI & ML Scholarship to begin the application prerequisites. Students can access 20 hours of AWS AI & ML content at launch, receive 10 hours of model training, and get 5 GB of storage per month to participate in the AWS DeepRacer Student League.
Step 2
AWS Generative AI Course
The brand new course "The Generative AI with AWS" will be available for free to all learners who complete the Udacity application. This one-month long course will provide learners with the fundamentals of this exciting field. Learners will work on a real-world generative AI project reviewed by a technical mentor and will earn a certificate of completion.
Step 3
Scholarship recipients announced
2,000 students will receive scholarships for the 3-month AI Programming with Python Nanodegree program. Attend virtual mentoring events with industry pros. Plus, learn foundational skills in a collaborative virtual environment with mentorship from Udacity and Amazon advisors.
Step 4
Additional Nanodegree program
All graduates will be invited to take an assessment. The 500 students with the highest scores on the assessment will earn a second Udacity Nanodegree program scholarship to help further prepare them for a career in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Students get the exciting opportunity to turn theory into action by training ML models to power a virtual race car using AWS DeepRacer Student League, a global autonomous racing competition exclusively for AWS AI & ML students.
Mentor-supported
Get personalized mentorship and career guidance from industry experts in machine learning. This provides insider knowledge about the latest innovations and trends in the field directly from ML leaders. Learners also receive career resources to help them stand out in the job market, including resume reviews, interview tips, and access to an inclusive job board only for scholarship recipients.
