Process Plan Document – Team X


This template is provided for your reference, along with the others on the projects page.  Note that it is written in markdown which is displayed differently here than it is on GitHub, so the formatting will look different once you have access to the repo — this is expected.

1 Introduction

The introduction provides context for the project.

  • Identify the software product(s) to be produced by name.
  • Explain what the software product(s) will, and, if necessary, will not do.

1.1 Definitions and Acronyms

List any project definitions and acronyms introduced to the project by this plan. Be sure and define all acronyms before their use.

2 Process Description

2.1 Project Lifecycle

Describe in detail the lifecycle for the project.  You may reference a standard lifecycle (like the waterfall) and then note how you will deviate from that.

2.2 Process Activities

Process description as a set of activities; for each activity, provide the following:

  • Activity name (verb or verb phrase)
  • Activity description (paragraph)
  • Entrance criteria (activity inputs and how you know that they have sufficient quality)
  • Exit criteria (deliverable document description and how you know it has been completed satisfactorily)

3 Roles

Describe the team and their roles (there will likely be more roles than there are team members)

3.1 Team member names

List all team members’ names.

3.2 Roles Table

Provide a table like the following with a short description of each role.

Provide a table showing which team member(s) has which role(s).

4 Estimates

4.1 Effort Estimate

Provide estimates for the following metrics:

  • Effort hours: total number of team-member hours you expect to spend on the project
  • Lines of code: total number of lines of source code you expect to have in your final product
  • Defects: total number of defects you expect to find while testing your code

4.2 Schedule

Provide the estimated schedule for this project in terms of a Gantt or PERT chart.
