    Model Evaluation and Supervised Machine Learning

    Dive straight in to data modeling, natural language processing, and neural networks.

  • Month #2

    Unsupervised and Reinforcement Learning

    Develop your knowledge of clustering and Q-Learning, and complete your third project.

  • Month #3

    Capstone Project

    Start conducting research on project ideas, collaborating with fellow classmates, and coming up with ideas for a capstone project... and then build it!

Prerequisites and Requirements

Prior to entering the Machine Learning Engineer Nanodegree program, the student should have the following knowledge:

  • Intermediate Python programming knowledge, of the sort gained through the Introduction to Programming Nanodegree, other introductory programming courses or programs, or additional real-world software development experience. Including:
    • Strings, numbers, and variables
    • Statements, operators, and expressions
    • Lists, tuples, and dictionaries
    • Conditions, loops
    • Procedures, objects, modules, and libraries
    • Troubleshooting and debugging
    • Research & documentation
    • Problem solving
    • Algorithms and data structures

  • Intermediate statistical knowledge, of the sort gained through any of Udacity’s introductory statistics courses. Including:
    • Populations, samples
    • Mean, median, mode
    • Standard error
    • Variation, standard deviations
    • Normal distribution
    • Precision and accuracy

  • Intermediate calculus and linear algebra mastery, addressed in the Linear Algebra Refresher Course, including:
    • Derivatives
    • Integrals
    • Series expansions
    • Matrix operations through eigenvectors and eigenvalues

  • Why should I apply for Udacity Connect Intensive?

    Students who add an in-person component finish on average more than 30% faster. You’ll benefit from collaborating with other students on projects work and discussing course material, in addition to exclusive access to in-person career services, networking opportunities, and guest speakers not available to other Nanodegree students. If a Nanodegree program is like access to a gym membership, then Udacity Connect Intensive is your personal trainer and class pack!

  • How do I sign up for Udacity Connect Intensive?

    Submit your application by Tuesday, January 17th, 2017 at 11:59 PM PDT. You’ll receive an email with a notification of whether you qualify to enroll by Tuesday January 23rd, 2017. You will have until Tuesday January 31st, 2017 at 11:59pm PST to secure your seat. Keep in mind that seats are first come, first serve, so keep an eye on your email!

  • What happens after I submit my application?

    We will be reviewing applications as they come in through the deadline. If you demonstrate knowledge of the prerequisites through your courses and/or experience, we will send you an acceptance notification to enroll. Enrollment is first come first serve until all seats fill up.

  • When and where will the sessions be held?

    Weekly sessions meet every Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM (except listed holidays) at Cogswell Polytechnical College at 191 Baypointe Pkwy, San Jose, CA 95134

    Outside of class, you will work for 10 additional hours per week on your own schedule. As a bonus, the in-person meeting space will be available for 2 extra hours each Saturday if you would like to stay with your peers and get a headstart on your self-scheduled work.

  • What if I am not accepted?

    To be better prepared for the next Connect Intensive, review prerequisites for the Nanodegree program you are interested in here with free courses. If you are ready to start learning and you don’t want to wait for the next cohort, you can enroll in the self-paced online Nanodegree program.

  • What if the session is full?

    We hope to open up more Udacity Connect Intensive sessions in throughout 2017. You can leave your email with us and we will be in touch when applications for the next cohort are available.

  • What happens if I miss a session?

    We expect you to attend every session but understand that sometimes life gets in the way. In the event that you need to miss a session, please let your Session Lead know as soon as possible. Missing sessions will cause you to fall behind - working with your Session Lead is crucial to make sure you stay on track to graduate in the specified time period.

  • What is the difference between Udacity Connect Intensive and regular Udacity Connect?

    Udacity Connect Intensive is curriculum-based: it takes students from the beginning of one Nanodegree program to the end, while Udacity Connect is open to students of any Nanodegree and at any point. Intensive is perfect for students looking to have a cohort that keeps them on track and with whom they can collaborate. Class time in Intensive is fully scheduled and interactive to maximize discussion and group project work on the given topic of the session. Intensive also offers mid-week check-ins from the Session Lead, in-person career workshops, guest speakers, and networking opportunities.

  • Why should I sign up for Udacity Connect Intensive instead of a bootcamp?

    Udacity Connect Intensive provides the rigor of a bootcamp without the high cost or full-time commitment. We provide flexibility through high quality online content, allowing you to complete material on your own in your own time. Online forums and 1:1 appointments are available nearly 24/7 to help you through the material outside the weekly sessions. This means you don’t have to quit your day job! With the in-person help of an expert Session Lead and your peers, you will gets hands-on support and feedback while working on the projects. Guest speakers, in-person career workshops, and networking opportunities will make you job-ready.

  • How much does Udacity Connect Intensive cost?

    Udacity Connect Intensive is available at $1500 for the sessions from February 11 - May 13. This includes access to the online Machine Learning Nanodegree program for 4+ months, which is a $800 value.

  • Will Udacity Connect Intensive be open to other Nanodegree programs or cities?

    We decided to limit Udacity Connect Intensive to specific Nanodegree programs based on interest and number of our students in the Bay area. We hope to roll out this curriculum to other Nanodegree programs and locations soon!
