NANODEGREE PROGRAM OVERVIEW
What is a Nanodegree Program?
A Udacity Nanodegree® Program is a unique online educational offering designed to bridge the gap between learning and career goals. We partner with industry leaders and experts who understand the what skills are in demand in the applicable job market. Students enroll in a specific course offering (e.g. Intro to Programming) and will be prompted to view the online course as well as complete a series of projects and support courses designed to help them develop job-relevant skills and build a portfolio to show prospective employers. Services related to educational program may include classroom mentorship, moderated forums, and project reviews ensure a personalized experience. Additional or different services may be offered in certain Nanodegree Programs which will be set forth in the applicable Program Details.
How long are the Nanodegree programs?
The length and time commitment for completing our Nanodegree programs varies depending on the requirements for the specific program. Some programs will require longer terms than others but you must complete the program within the terms in order to graduate and receive the Nanodegree program credential. Additionally, certain programs may require more of a time commitment, depending on topic complexity and your skill level. Please see the Program Details for the term length information and estimated weekly hourly commitments.
What do I need to do to graduate from a Nanodegree program?
Before the final term deadline, you will need to review all the content and successfully complete all projects with a grade of “Meets Specifications” for your specific Nanodegree program as set forth in the curriculum and syllabus. For more information on deadlines, please see the Deadlines and Access section of this FAQ below
Will I earn a credential upon completing the requirements of a Nanodegree program?
Yes. After successfully completing a Nanodegree program, provided you have complied with all of our policies, and upon providing us identity verification documentation through NetVerify, you will receive a credential of completion for the applicable Nanodegree program. Please keep in mind that some Nanodegree programs are offered in multiple terms and you will must complete all terms for those programs to be eligible to receive a credential of completion for those Nanodegree programs.

PAYMENT TERMS, ADMISSION AND ENROLLMENT
How much do Nanodegree programs cost?
The costs of enrollment will vary for each Nanodegree program and that information is found on the Program Details page of each Nanodegree program. Please keep in mind that, for multi-term Nanodegree programs, you may have costs associated with each term which be charged separately at time of enrollment for the applicable term. You should refer to the Program Details for specifics.
When are payments due?
What types of payment options does Udacity offer?
Does Udacity offer free trials?
There is no free trial period for our Nanodegree programs, but please see the FAQ topic on refunds below. We offer a 7-day cancellation period on enrollments.
Do you offer refunds?
Do Nanodegree programs have prerequisites or applications?
Some of our program do. You must meet all prerequisites and assessment or application requirements as identified in the Program Details for the Nanodegree program for which you wish to enroll. Both prerequisites and application requirements differ by Nanodegree program.
Can I enroll in multiple Nanodegree programs at the same time?
Our programs require a serious time commitment and are meant to be intensive. While we do not recommend concurrent enrollments, such enrollments are not prohibited. We believe that you will get the most out of your courses by being fully immersed in one program at a time and by following along with the structure and pacing outlined in the applicable program curriculum and syllabus. You can always enroll in additional programs afterwards.
Can I enroll in a Nanodegree program at any time?
We admit and enroll students on a rolling basis, and you will automatically be added to the next available date of classroom opening once you have successfully met any applicable admissions criteria and enrolled. Occasionally, due to heavy enrollment demands, we may need to stagger enrollment entry into the classroom, but you will be notified as soon as possible about any changes or issues.
Once enrolled, when will I have access to my Nanodegree program?
You will be notified of the time when a Nanodegree program you have enrolled in will open. You will also be able to see the countdown to your term’s start date in the Udacity My Classroom account view. You can enter the classroom prior to the start of your classroom open date, but you likely won’t be able to access the online course content as it stays locked until your enrolled term begins.
DEADLINES AND ACCESS
What is your policy on deadlines?
We use the term “deadline” in our Nanodegree programs in one of two ways:
Ongoing suggested deadlines for individual projects.
The deadlines you see in your classroom are suggestions for when you should ideally pass each project. They are meant to help keep you on track so that you maintain an appropriate pace throughout the program in order to graduate on time.
A final term deadline for passing all projects in the Nanodegree program.
Passing a project in this context means that a Udacity reviewer has marked all of your projects as “Meets Specifications” by the final term deadline. In order to graduate, you have to pass all projects by the last day of your term in order to graduate and received your credential.
It is very important to understand the distinction between the two, as your progress in your program is measured against the deadlines we have established and that are built into the classroom.
Are deferments an option if I’m enrolled, but not ready to start a Nanodegree program?
No, deferments are unfortunately not an option. Please make sure to enroll for a term only if you are able to commit to the entire time frame. If you have an urgent personal issue, please reach out to Student Services at email@example.com for assistance.
Do you offer extensions?
Yes, with certain requirements. Upon request to Student Services, you will be able to receive a one-time four-week extension at the end of your term. Please reach out and contact firstname.lastname@example.org and seek assistance. We want you to graduate and receive your credential!
Can I switch “cohorts” or start dates for my Nanodegree program?
No, unfortunately we are not able to accommodate switching to other cohorts at this time but we hope to offer options enabling a degree of switching in the future. If you believe you have special circumstances as to why you are unable to complete the Nanodegree program for which you are enrolled, we encourage you to reach out to Student Services to discuss with the Udacity team at email@example.com. If you just need additional time to complete a final project, upon request to Student Service we offer one four-week extension at the end of your term to help you graduate!
If I need to, do I have the option to pause my studies?
The fixed-term nature of our Nanodegree programs, and the need for maintaining a consistent and stable student community throughout the program means that we do not accommodate any pause function in the program. If you have an emergency or special circumstances, please reach out to Student Services at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How long will I have access to Nanodegree program content after I graduate?
You will have access to Nanodegree program classroom content for only for a short period of time after the end of stated program term. Students who graduate from some Nanodegree programs may have some further continued access to materials that are made available on the Udacity platform. Please note, however, that students who leave their program—or who are removed from the program for failure to meet the final deadlines, for non-payment, for breach of the terms of service, our Honor Code or Community Code of Conduct, or for other reasons —prior to successfully graduating, will cease to have access to content or the classroom immediately. Please reach out to Student Services at email@example.com for further information or questions.
