Udacity is excited to introduce the newest addition to our School of Cybersecurity: the Cybersecurity for Business Leaders Executive program. This program is designed to enable all current and future c-suite executives to develop an understanding of cybersecurity issues and provide the tools to mitigate cyber risks.
What Is Cybersecurity?
Cybersecurity, according to Cisco, is “the practice of protecting systems, networks, and programs from digital attacks.” Hackers attempt to break into the network and steal data, corrupt systems, and extort businesses.
Unfortunately, as the world goes more digital, the risks of a cyberattack increase. In fact, cybercrime has gone up 600% in the last two years. When a breach happens, it’s a serious break in trust with an organization’s customers, so the best course of action is to plan ahead and mitigate risks before something bad happens. The best way to do this is by taking these risks seriously now, starting with the executive leadership level.
Cybersecurity for Business Leaders Executive Program Details
The Cybersecurity for Business Leaders Executive program will equip current and future people in executive leadership with the practical knowledge, skills, and tools to combat cybersecurity issues in their organizations.
Not only will graduates gain a high-level knowledge of cybersecurity that pertains to their industry, but they will also be able to create plans to mitigate risk and respond in case of an issue. Anyone enrolling in this program should be comfortable using a computer for general purposes but does not need any prior experience with cybersecurity.
In as little as one month (at 3-5 hours a week), students who enroll in the Cybersecurity for Business Leaders Executive program will learn how to identify potential cyber threats to digital assets in an organization, understand systemic risks within the digital ecosystem of a company’s suppliers, vendors, and customers, and develop best practices for dealing with cyber threats of varying degrees.
Additionally, graduates of the Cybersecurity for Business Leaders Executive program will be able to create optimal cybersecurity budgets on not only a project-wide scale but also at an organizational level, as well as implement cybersecurity awareness initiatives.
Project: Your Cybersecurity Plan
Students of the Cybersecurity for Business Leaders Executive program will form an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) plan specifically related to cybersecurity risks in their own industries and organizations. Additionally, students will develop an Incident Response Plan (IRP) along with a 3-year cybersecurity budget.
