As the last child in a family of seven, Chiazam — a mechanical engineering graduate — is familiar with turning challenges into opportunities. When we spoke to him last year, he was going through a tough time since he had lost his job to COVID-19 and was looking for a way to change his life.
Chiazam had shared his challenges with the Nigerian education system. So in order to upskill himself he applied for the Machine Learning Scholarship Program for Microsoft Azure. It’s been six months, and he has already embarked on a new journey to success.
“After losing my job at the airline I was working for due to COVID-19, I am happy that I got a job as a Data Analyst at Wema Bank (a Nigerian Commercial Bank) now. During my Nanodegree program, I learnt the relation between machine learning and data analysis. Data makes me feel like Superman. I am so proud of myself that I could finish my Nanodegree program. Without the Nanodegree program I would not have been here,” said Chiazam.
