Udacity is proud to announce that we are now a member of the European Commission Digital Skills & Jobs Coalition! The Digital Skills & Jobs Coalition brings together Member States, companies, social partners, non-profit organizations and education providers who take action to tackle the lack of digital skills in Europe.

The European workforce is facing a tech talent shortage to fill job vacancies in all industry sectors. Currently, 42% of European citizens currently do not have basic digital skills. In addition, 37% of people in the labor force, from farmers to bank employees, lack the digital skills required for their roles. What’s more, education and training programs often fail to prepare youth for the jobs of the future, leaving the next generation unprepared with the skills to enter the modern workforce.

Having a technology-savvy workforce is essential to build an inclusive digital society. As a member of the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition, Udacity will bridge today’s technology skills gaps and find opportunities to collaborate and grow with other Coalition members across Europe. We hope to empower members of the European workforce to develop and adapt their skill sets at the speed of market demand.

“Udacity is honored to be a part of this Coalition and contribute to the achievement of its objectives,” said Alvaro Biel, Head of Business Development for Udacity for Government Europe. “With the impact of digitalization and COVID-19, European citizens need more than ever to be trained in the right skills to succeed in the future. I am very positive that our membership in the Coalition is a step in the right direction to make a difference.”

We’re excited to continue to work towards our mission of training the world’s workforce in careers of the future with the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition. You can learn more about the Digital Skills & Jobs Coalition here
