Android Scholarships Indonesia

Udacity and Google continue to strengthen a joint commitment to providing new scholarship opportunities to deserving communities across the globe. Today we are very pleased to announce a brand-new initiative: 500 scholarships for aspiring Android Developers in Indonesia to take our Android Fast Track program!

The Past

The seeds for this new scholarship offering were first planted in February of 2016, when Indonesian President Joko Widodo visited Silicon Valley and met with Google CEO Sundar Pichai. To coincide with this important visit, Google announced a plan to help train 100,000 Indonesian mobile developers by 2020. The energy behind that effort to contribute to a digitized Indonesia is now helping to power this new scholarship initiative, and all at Udacity are extremely excited to bring 500 Indonesian students into our classroom, and to support them as they advance their Android Development skills.

The Present

Indonesia boasts a huge population of smartphone users, and a significant majority of internet users in Indonesia use their smartphones to get online. Given that Android has a really significant presence in Indonesia—and is projected to keep rising in popularity—it is abundantly clear that getting on track now for a career in Android development is an excellent move for anyone interested in establishing themselves in Indonesia’s new mobile-centric economy.

The Future

At Udacity, our mission is to democratize education. We believe in the power of learning to change lives, and we are committed to removing those barriers that prevent deserving individuals from pursuing transformative opportunities. We are fortunate to be part of a global community of learners, and we are thrilled at the prospect of connecting with the Indonesian developer community through this new offering. As a recent Udacity Android Basics Nanodegree graduate from Indonesia describes, this type of opportunity can be a game changer:

Since graduating from the Android Nanodegree, I am more confident as an Android developer. I started accepting several projects and can help build people’s dreams. But the most important thing now is that I believe in, and am ready to work on, building my dreams.” —M. Yusuf Rahman

The Fast Track Program

The Associate Android Developer Fast Track program features courses co-created by Google and Udacity, and is built to provide a complete path to Google certification. It teaches students exactly what they need to know to successfully pass the Associate Android Developer Certification Exam, thereby enabling them to demonstrate successful mastery of the core skills required to launch a career in Android Development.  This in turn affords graduates of the program a distinct advantage in their job searches.

The Scholarship

The Indonesia Android Developer Scholarship is designed for intermediate Java developers pursuing Android specialization. If you are an Indonesian resident, have 1-2 years of programming experience, and are looking to take the next step in your career, apply for a scholarship today; applications close May 31.

We are very grateful to Google for their continued partnership, and for their global evangelism on behalf of aspiring learners all across the planet. We’re excited to welcome 500 new students to Udacity, and we look forward to strengthening our ties to Indonesia’s dynamic and growing developer community through this exciting new scholarship initiative.
