Udacity Road to Intersect 2017 Maureen Fan

Selecting the speakers and panelists for Intersect 2017 has been one of the most inspiring aspects of preparing for our conference, because it involves talking with influential and innovative leaders about their ideas and careers, how they got started in their fields, and why conferences like Intersect are so important.

Chris Morell, Udacity Marketing Director, recently got to enjoy an exciting “first” with one of our conference speakers. He talked with Maureen Fan, Co-founder and CEO of Baobab Studios, while being driven in the Udacity Self-Driving Car! Apparently, she’d never done an interview in a self-driving car before. Nice to know we can surprise even super-innovators like Maureen!

If you’re curious as to why Maureen is excited about Intersect, and wondering whether you should attend yourself, I’ll jump ahead to an important moment in their conversation:

Chris: Why do you think conferences like Intersect are so important, for people to get in front of people like you, and companies that are hiring the next wave of engineers?

Maureen: I think it’s similar to how I got into a new industry, which is animation. A lot of it is finding conferences, finding opportunities outside of my work to learn about the industries I’m excited about. Also, because companies go to these conferences specifically to recruit people that they see are passionate.

We’ve got speakers and hiring partners from some of the most exciting industries out there, and they’re looking forward to meeting exactly the kinds of people Maureen describes—people who are passionate about everything from AI to VR, Finance to IT, E-commerce to Entertainment, Web Development to Digital Marketing, and more! Does that sound like you? This conference is about the jobs of today, tomorrow, and beyond, so if your dream is to work in one of these fields, you can start making your dream a reality today.

Please visit Intersect 2017 to see our full list of speakers, and to purchase your tickets today. Early bird pricing is only available through February 18, so don’t delay!

Now, hop in the car with Chris and Maureen, and hear what else they talk about. (Hint: it has something to do with Ethan Hawke).
