Udacity Mentorship

When we launched our Android Basics Nanodegree program by Google, we established something wholly new at Udacity: a complete learning path that takes you all the way from novice to expert in your chosen field. You can enroll in the Android Basics program without having any programming experience at all, and emerge fully job-ready as an Android Developer when you graduate from the Android Developer program! This means all students interested in Android Development can start learning right away, no matter their experience level.

Because we built the program to be an on-ramp for beginners, we knew from the start we’d need to be especially conscious of the unique needs of beginning students. The first steps are often the most difficult, making the early days of the program a particularly critical time for those just getting started with programming.

This is why we are so thrilled to launch Mentorship for Android Basics students. Starting today, all new enrollees in the Android Basics Nanodegree program by Google will have a dedicated mentor assigned to them on Day 1!

Personalized mentoring in many forms has been a feature of our programs all along. But today’s announcement highlights something really special—having a single point-of-contact who gets to know you, your learning style, and who can help you get exactly what you want out of your Nanodegree program is an incredible resource for students, especially those at the beginning of their journey. This is Mentorship on a whole new level.

With Mentorship you’ll be able to:

  • Get help from your mentor without even leaving the classroom
  • Receive 1:1 on-demand support via your personal chat channel
  • Stay on track through weekly check-ins

The great jazz pianist Herbie Hancock once said, “I’ve learned a lot from mentors who were instrumental in shaping me, and I want to share what I’ve learned.” This is exactly the spirit our mentors embody. They are accomplished in their fields, yet as learners themselves, they know the value of learning, and understand the challenges that can arise on the path to knowledge. They want to share what they’ve learned, so that you can achieve your learning goals. That’s what Mentorship is about, and starting today, all eligible students can experience this firsthand! It’s a great day to be a mentor, and it’s a great day to be a student! Enroll today, and let the learning begin!
